Trakai trip !

In this new article, we will tell you about our adventure in the castle of Trakai...

The arrival

So we planned to go to Trakai on the 12. February. Obviously, we went with the Vilnius guys, other French and Italian guys with whom we are often. We had the choice to go with the ESN, it's an association that organizes events within the school. But as it is not too far, we decided to go by ourselves.

The infinite walk

So, we all took the train from Vilnius, at 9:25 am. Taking the train in Lithuania is very cheap, so it's very easy to travel in the country. Once we arrived in Trakai, we had a 30 minutes walk to get to the castle. We realized the 30 minutes walk in 1h30 because we stopped several times to take pictures and admire the view. The trip seemed very long because of all our photo breaks... But was very surprising, the big lake that surrounds the castle was completely frozen. We were a bit afraid to walk on it but Charles did it and he is alive! Everything was white and the weather was nice and we could enjoy the sun.

The castle

Once we arrived at the castle, we did the visit. The castle was not very big but there was a lot of exposition of old objects, paintings, porcelain, and smoking pipes. We could also see "the treasures of Trakai" which were in reality old coins. Armor, swords, and clothes from the past were also on display. There was also a short film about the history of the castle. It took us about 1h30-2h to go around the castle.

Eat time!

After the visit, we were all hungry. So we decided to eat at a typical local restaurant of Lithuania. We had kibini, ravioli, and a kind of typical stew. We were all full...

The come-back

Then we decided to slowly go back to the train station. Finally, we took the train back at 3:25 pm.

Our impression

We were very happy to discover the castle and this frozen landscape. It was very impressive and we are not used to seeing that.
